An Introduction

As a transplant to LA (who isn't, practically?), I have struggled to find plus-size friendly shopping and more in Los Angeles. I have found myself over the almost 6 years that I've lived here now frequently searching the web for information about plus-sized shopping and living in LA, but I find almost nothing. Well, nothing beyond, "Lane Bryant! Torrid! The Avenue!" I don't know about you, but I find the fashion level of those stores a bit.... lacking. I'm not saying I don't own any of their clothing (well, in the case of the Avenue, that's true... Their stuff is just too bright, the fit is boxy, and everything is a bit off.) But, I like seeking out better fashion finds.

So, I hope I will be able to explore shopping for plus-sized women and write about other experiences I have as a larger woman living in Southern California.

Just a little background. I'm currently losing weight. I've lost about 37 pounds since November. I'm still about a size 20 or 22, so definitely still plus-sized (none of this size 14 crap...although in LA, if you're a size 14 you might as well be a size 24). I exercise regularly, am doing Weight Watchers, but the weight needs to come off slowly for it to work, so, I imagine I'll be shopping in the land of the FPS as I call them (Fat People Stores) for quite a bit longer. I'm 32 years old and am currently finishing up my master's degree in library and information science. When I finish in about 3 weeks, I will have more time to post. But after another day spent perusing plus-size shopping blogs today and finding the usual non-helpful information, I decided I wanted to jump in and start my own blog. So, here I am!
